Mochi Mart

A brief history

Mochi mart was created in early 2007. I had taken up a renewed interest in sewing and began to dable in plush toy
design. I had been sewing for over five years at that point, and while my first designs were fairly simple, I continued
to try and push myself to think outside the box. I always had a love for both food and the randomness that was
Japanese advertizing and design. Keeping this in mind, I decided to combine the two.

My first two plush mochi (was at the time and still is my favorite snack food), and onigiri debuted at the Anime
Boston 2007 Artist Alley. I had an extremely wonderful time and met a whole lot of interesting people. I got quite
a bit of feedback and tips at the convention. Taking that into mind I started to push my designs more. I'm always
looking for new ways of bringing my ideas into creation. I hope to continue to work hard and create new and
interesting high quality plush toys.

About the brand

The name mochi mart was chosen nearly at random. Mochi, a delicious Japanese rice treat, was and still remains
to be my favorite type of snack food. The "mart" however, was 100% random. It seemed to work really well
with what I was going for, and had a nice catchy ring to it. The rest, is history.

The logo

For those of you whom have visited this site before, you may notice that our logo has gone through some
changes and growing pains. The reason for this is up until this point, I was completely unhappy
with it. However, its present incarnation, is it's final.

Materials

I use medium weight anti-pill fleece for most of my plush toys. For details I use a combination of fleece,
felt, ribbon, and velours. I use Mountain Mist stuffing for all of my plush toys, unless the buyer has specifed
otherwise due to allergies, etc.

Commissions

I will only have a few limited slots open for commissions each month. Depending on the complexity of
the works requested and the time needed to complete them, I will adjust the amount of slots accordingly.
If you are interested in commissioning a plush toy from me, please contact me at sales@mochimart.com with
"Custom Commission" in the subject line. Emails are checked on a regualr basis, so you can expect a reply
with a cost and time estimate usually within 48 hours. Please be sure to notify me if you have any
specific fabric requests due to allergies, etc. All items are shipped USPS Priority mail with delivery
confirmation. For international orders, please request a shipping quote.

Commissions are completed on a first come, first serve basis. Average time from start to finish is 1 to 2 weeks.
Wait times may shorten or lengthen depending on the complexity of the request. For example, if I
currently have three slots full and you occupy slot two, your wait time is 3 to 4 weeks minimum. A $20
non-refundable deposite (taken off the final price, this is not an extra fee) is required to hold your slot.
All commissions must be paid in full by the time/date given before plush will be completed and shipped.
As your plush is being worked on, I will send you status updates and photos , as well as a photo of
the finished piece before it is shipped to you.
